The two sides also discussed the Geneva conference which aimed to prepare a suitable mechanism for implementing Annan's six-point plan and create an environment for dialogue, with emphasis on the need for dialogue to be among Syrians and led by Syrians.
The talks were held in a positive and constructive atmosphere, with the Syrian side affirming Syria's commitment to implementing the six-point plan, and that the success of this plan depends greatly on ceasing the arming and funding of terrorism in addition to having an international commitment and honest will to end violence in Syria and implement Annan's plan in full.
The meeting also allowed for briefing Annan on the latest developments regarding the steps taken by the government in the matter of dialogue, and the two sides agreed to continue coordination with the observer mission and the Syrian government to reach the desired goal.
The meeting was attended by Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem, Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, and Official Spokesman of the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry Dr. Jihad Makdessi.
